- This tank should be filled with Diesel. It flows to your thermostart unit. When you energize the thermostart, a tiny amount of fuel gets burned inside it and makes extra heat to help your tractor start. Since diesel engines don't have spark plugs, they rely on pressure and heat to start. The warmer the incoming air, the easier they start.
