Tire FAQ

What do all of these numbers mean?

There are a couple ways that you will see tire sizes listed.

1- If the style looks like this- 9.5-22 Then 9.5 is the width of the tire in inches. The 22 is the diameter of the rim that the tire will go on. So.. if you have a 22" rim- you can put a 8.3-22, a 9.5-22, and even a 10-22 on the same rim without any problems. You can almost always put on a tire that is a little wider or narrower than the rim.

2- If the style looks like 200/50/18 then the 200 is the width of the tire in millimeters. The 50 is the aspect ratio. This means that the tire is 50% as tall as it is wide = 100mm The 18 is the rim diameter in inches

Can I put on a bigger tire?
As long as the rim size is the same you can almost always put on a tire that is slightly wider or narrower (10 to 20% is usually ok). IF YOUR TRACTOR IS 4WD- you MUST maintain the same front to rear tire ratio. If not, the gears will be working against each other because the front and rear tires are trying to roll at different speeds. This will destroy your 4wd system and be very expensive to fix. If you have a 4wd tractor it is best to stick with the same size tire. If you took off a 5-12 - put back on a 5-12. If you want to change to a wider tire you will need to divide the diameter of the rear tire by the front tire on both the new set and the old set. The numbers must be within a few percentahes of each other to work.

I can't find my tire
It is likely that we just overlooked that size or it may be listed in Metric or Standard sizing instead. Please email us to get a price on your tire.
