There is much more to a filter than thread size. We see a lot of customers come in with engine problems caused by the wrong filter. Did you know that one of the common filters that people are using has a filter material that is too fine & almost all of the oil bleeds through the bypass valve - NOT GETTING FILTERED AT ALL!!
